Christian Kruse, der Entwickler der Foren-Software CForum (unter anderem eingesetzt bei SelfHtml) macht sich sehr interessante Gedanken, warum OpenSource sich für Entwickler nicht rentiert: “Das Malheur mit Open Source“.

Durch ständiges Gemäcker und der Tatsache, dass die Hilfsbereitschaft anderer Entwickler darin endet, zu mäckern, hat Christian die Entwicklung der in C entwickelten Software erstmal eingestellt. Die Software hatte sich - unter anderem gerade weil sie in C entwickelt wurde - für sehr frequentierte Foren ausgezeichnet und ein hohes Leistungsmaß bewiesen.

Dieser Effekt bei OpenSource-Software konnte ich leider auch schon bestätigen, weshalb ich mich bisher weigere, eigene Software als OpenSource zur Verfügung zu stellen. Die Menschen sind offensichtlich nicht bereit, eine Gegenleistung zu erbringen. Es existiert eine Nehmer-Mentalität in Europa, wie auch Gerrit von Aaken feststellen muss, der eine eine interessante Loudblog-Software entwickelt hat. Neben einer evtl. guten Verlinkung hat man aber mit dem Gang zur OpenSource nur eine gefüllte Mailbox, weil sich die Benutzer nicht an Konventionen halten oder weil sie - zumindest teilweise - kein Spur von Höflichkeit besitzen. Schade eigentlich!

Wie heise heute berichtet, gibt es wieder teilweise schwerwiegende Fehler in php-Foren. Darunter ist tinyBB und einige Mods zu phpBB (Activity Mod Plus, Advanced Guestbook, Blend Portal System, foing, Knowledge Base, Nivisec Hacks List, phpbb-Auction, phpRaid und TopList).

Leider sind bis zur aktuellen Version der entsprechenden Pakete die Fehler enthalten, so dass teilweise nur Patch-Hinweise vorhanden sind. Um die Sicherheit nicht zu gefährden, wird empfohlen, die PHP-Option “register_globals off” zu setzen, sofern dies noch nicht getan ist. Diese Einstellung muss in der php.ini vorgenommen werden und gilt für den gesamten Server (nicht über .htaccess möglich).

These days, I’m studying artificial intelligence again (especially muliagents). For this, I want to learn LISP, a really nice programming language (wich can also be used as language for web pages). One main element of LISP are lists (LISP = List Processing Language). To understand, what we can do with lists, I’ve found this nice dialog:

Spoon Boy wants to tell you, that you can do nearly everything with lists (ok, I think that is what he wants to tell)

You learn a lot at university: you learn how to plan a product, you learn how to test a product, you learn how much the product does cost. But you don’t learn how you can sell it to your costumors (ok, their is a lesson called marketing, but this is not what I mean with “how to sell” because it’s not mainly the costumer who is in point of view). So I want to start at this place to publish some interesting informations I have found. Their are a lot of very interesting books I have read and of course, their are a lot of interesting pages in the www.

I want to start with a book called “Interaktive Wertschöpfung - Open Innovation, Individualisierung und neue Formen der Arbeitsteilung“, which is also avaiable as ePaper (Creative Commens Licence). The book is about how you can integrate the costumer into your company and how you can avoid by-developing at the costumer (UMTS for example).
After I have read this book, I let you know, if it’s good or not.
